Peace-based politics is basically politics that is peaceful. No violence, threats, or manipulation because “a society functions better when people feel safe.”
Leaders want everyone to benefit from a political action; they give them more meaningful participation in decisions that affect their lives.
If the government doesn’t consider its citizens, they will fail to meet their needs, which creates a bigger problem.
They may be perceived as weak, though, because their approach usually takes time to reap results. It will seem like they are doing nothing.
It is easier to notice those who move boldly, and they look more capable doing that. And that is what helps them win elections.
Peace-based Politics Is Non-aggressive and Fair
Peace-based politics views governance as a collaborative effort to address problems while considering the needs of all groups in a society.
Below are some of its important features.

Rejects War and Aggression
Throughout history, wars and aggression have caused immense suffering and destruction, leaving countries poorer and weaker than before.
So, peace-based leaders would rather settle disputes peacefully so as not to waste resources but create opportunities for more.
Promotes Negotiation and Mediation
In peace-based politics, leaders engage in dialogue to understand the needs and concerns of different groups. They don’t impose decisions.
And when everyone sees them solving problems peacefully, it sets a good example and encourages them to talk things out properly with others.

Tackles Inequality and Discrimination
Peace-based politics actively works to address inequality and discrimination because peace is just not possible without justice.
Inequality happens when resources, opportunities, and power are unfairly distributed across groups or individuals.
When certain groups feel excluded, resentment grows and conflict becomes likely. They will take action to push for change. A protest!
Encourages Transparency and Accountability
Peace-based leaders are open about their decisions and allow everyone to ask questions to prevent problems before they escalate.
Protects All Individuals
A truly peaceful society is one where everyone feels safe and valued. Peace-based politics doesn’t discriminate.
Everyone has access to food, shelter, healthcare, education, and opportunities to participate in decisions that have an impact on them.

Peace-based Politics Is Possible But Hard
Peace-based politics doesn’t seem easy to achieve today because many still see power in terms of military strength and control.
Just look at what is happening in the world, and something is happening wherever you look: wars, corruption, oppression, the list goes on.
Even though experts say that another world war is unlikely, once a leader of a nuclear-powered country gets super mad, one word and a nuclear bomb could be dropped. The third world war might begin!
That is an exaggeration because a single leader can’t just impulsively order to launch a bomb somewhere, but think of Kim Jong-un.
Kim Jong-un is North Korea’s supreme leader.
He has the ultimate authority to order a nuclear strike, and North Koreans who oppose him would face severe punishment!
